Weddings and events

Weddings just make me so happy – it’s incredibly special to watch two people who love each other make the biggest commitment of their lives in front of family and friends.

Important considerations for booking a photographer

1. Style and portfolio
You need to make sure the photographer’s style aligns with your vision and preferences. Make sure you review their portfolio to see if it showcases the type of event or wedding you’re having, and if their photography style resonates with you. Make time to meet with them as well – their personality is important as they’ll playing quite a big role on the day.

2. Identify your needs
When you start making enquiries, it’s a good idea to know what your needs are – how many hours of event coverage you want and what deliverables you’re after (printed albums or high res digital files). That really helps a photographer with quoting accurately.

3. Set a budget
Photographers set their own rates – you need to find someone who fits within in your budget.

4. Check availability
Much like venues, wedding photographers get booked quickly during peak seasons. When you find a photographer you like, make sure you check their availability as soon as possible. You may need to pay a deposit to secure your date.

5. Pricing and packages
Once you’ve found your photographer, make sure you understand their pricing structure, what’s included in their packages, and if they offer any custom options. Be aware of any additional costs, such as travel fees, overtime charges, or album prices.
